Review, Spotlight, and Giveaway: The Defender by Adrienne Giordano (@AdrienneGiordano)

The Defender Cover

Rating: 5/5 Stars

The blurb:

By all accounts Penny Hennings was the sort of woman FBI special agent Russell Voight went for. Smart, sexy and with just enough sass to keep him honest. Then she went sticking her nose in undercover FBI business. He knew her legal reputation would skyrocket if she won this case. But every move she makes undoes all the work Russell’s put into taking down the city’s biggest crooks. And the criminals they’re after will do anything to avoid the witness stand—including kill. So it’s time to pool their resources and collaborate. Even if working together every day takes them late into the night…and into the line of fire.

It has been way too long since I’ve posted a review, but man – what a come back!

I’ve never met an Adrienne Giordano book that I didn’t like, so when the opportunity came up to get an ARC of The Defender, I couldn’t say no. I loved it, y’all. You will too.

Penny Hennings is a defense lawyer with a high profile client and a big case. This case could take her career and reputation to the next level if she plays her cards right, and the odds certainly seemed to be in her favour …until the shooting.

Enter: Russell Voight (this is where all of the women sigh and bat their eyelashes). Sexy, FBI Special Agent, fills out a suit just right Russell Voight. Russell has been grilled on the stand by Penny, the “Killer Cupcake”, once before. And as much as he should hate her for it, it’s had the opposite effect on him.

As Penny and Russell begin to work together more closely, it’s clear that there’s more than a criminal case drawing them nearer to each other. Both wonder if the emotionally charged situation is to blame, but neither of them can seem to pull back. When Penny decides it’s time to find alternate means of dealing with a tough situation, she puts all of Russell’s hard work on the case in jeopardy. Of course Russell is pissed, but he’s also worried. Worried about Penny, and worried about what this means for his future …their future?

This book is non stop action. I do most of my reading in bed at night, and I was mentally shaking my fist at Adrienne the first time I picked this book up because I knew it would be a much later night than I had anticipated. There’s never really a place where you feel like you can put the book down. You just have to keep turning those pages! If you like action, suspense, and steamy romance, then this book needs to be put at the top of your TBR list. You won’t be disappointed!
